New Mac Ad Attacks Entire Windows Lineage

by - source: Tom's Hardware US

Microsoft launched Windows 7 yesterday, and along with it a pretty neat ad for its I'm a PC campaign. However, Apple also released a new commercial yesterday.

Below is Apple's newly released commercial entitled, "Empty Promises." It seems that simply updating its notebook and desktop line in the same week as the Windows 7 launch wasn't enough for Apple, as the company's latest commercial aims to take Microsoft down a peg by reminding customers of days gone by.

Justin Long doesn't even mention Apple once. He just stands there while John Hodgman points out that there have been issues with every single Windows OS, going right back to Windows 2.

Check out the video below and let me know what you think.

I can't think of another company that would actually make an 'anti-ad' for a competitor rather than an ad selling itself. Reminds me of politicians focusing on their opponents problems rather than their own benefits. And A company with this level of maturity wants my hard earned moneys?

Heh, sorry Apple. You just gave me another reason to continue avoiding you with this ad.

Every new product is better than the old one even soap (washes cleaner etc) and the next one is even better!

If you going to advertise tell me why I should buy it and not just knock someone else's stuff, or do you do this because you see you gear as only just less bad?

So apple is your new OS better than last one, or just the same old stuff with some new graphics? After all you can not say it fixes any problems the older ones had.

Windows 2000 was solid I never had a single issue with it it really was the best windows ever released. I switched to xp for my buisness pc back in may and xp's bugs are geting old real quick.

They aren't even advertising their products, but isn't that what ADVERTISING is about?

So all we can really take from this advert is that Apple have nothing good to say about their own products and thus are more concerned with the competition, nice one.

Pretty much why there are so many Mac haters out there, mostly down to Apple's sheer arrogant stupidity.

That is a funny advert to be fair. Still hate Apple though. Mainly for the bullshit they peddle about the benefits of having a Mac. No, actually it's the inflated price of the hardware. Oh, and the lack of support for many devices. And the fact you are legally required to use them in Starbucks at every opportunity.

And people still buy them in addition to a Windows PC cos the Mac is insufficient for everyday use. Not the other way round. Waste of money if you ask me and for the most part a purchase led by fashion and a distinct lack of knowledge or logical thought. I still don't understand it.

This isn't advertising, it's marketing.
