Way back when (last month), you may remember the little DiskOnKey storage gadget we showed you that you can stick in your pocket. You also might remember that Sony came out with a similar device that could be partitioned to deny others access to certain files if your were to lose the thing. Well, the competition in little highlighter-sized storage gadgets is on. M-Systems just announced the availability of its KeySafe security software application for DiskOnKey. KeySafe uses a Graphic User Interface (GUI), to let you save secure data on the DiskOnKey that is only accessible through a password. KeySafe will be installed on every DiskOnKey shipped from December and is available for all storage capacities of the little thing. The device keeps the KeySafe application on the unit, not relying on the host computer or operating system, and lets you partition the memory space on the DiskOnKey to be used either for secure data or as free space. The storage space is manipulated using a scroll bar in the GUI menu and gives you an indicator of zones of kiloByte space to adjust the free and secure space. If you didn't hit the above link to check out details on the device, DiskOnKey is a lightweight device smaller than the size of a typical pen that connects to your USB port and shows up as an additional hard drive. It's available in 8, 16, 32, 64 and 128MB capacities.
