Lucent gives voice to the Web
Lucent Technologies has introduced a product that lets mobile phone users access the Internet and listen to their favorite Web sites.
Called PhoneBrowser, the system lets users to punch up a Web address on their cell phone screen, and hear a robot-accented voice read back Web site content.
Similar voice-applications have been developed by a handful of smaller companies, including TelSurf Networks and TellMe Networks.
