LSI Puts Out 2 Gigabit/s PCI-X Fibre Channel

by - source: Tom's Hardware

If you need to move large quantities of data from place to place, you need fat pipes to pour it through. LSI Logic thinks it can help facilitate your data-guzzling ways with the addition of single, dual, and quad 2 Gigabit per second PCI-X Fibre Channel host adapters for SANs, server-to-storage interconnect and SAN clustering. LSI's quad port LSI7402XP gives you four channels on a PCI short card form factor and is built around the LSIFC929 controller and a 133 MHz PCI-X bridge chip. To complete its 2/Gbps host adapter LSI7002XP family, LSI also offers the LSI7202XP dual channel PCI-X adapter and the LSI7102XP single channel PCI-X adapter. The LSI7002XP host adapter family supports switched fabric, arbitrated loop and point-to-point topologies. LSI's PCI-X Fibre Channel host adapters support the SNIA Host Bus Adapter (HBA) API, which allows access to information across Fibre Channel networks. LSI is now sampling the LSI7002XP family products worldwide but isn't telling us how much they will cost. The adapters should be on the street by the end of this year.
