Love Bug suspects almost got antivirus jobs
Only a week before the ILOVEYOU worm virus was detected, the two Philippine programmers who are assumed to have written the malicious code were on the verge of being hired by a provider of antivirus software. A spokesperson for the Philipine office of the Japanese Trend Micro Inc. said, "they were very good." If the programmers had been hired before the virus was detected, Trend Micro would have been in the position of employing the people responsible for generating much of their business in the past year.
In vaguely related news, an Indian computer industry panel has turned to a group of nineteen experienced teenage hackers to advise the business community on the prevention of Internet crime.
