Company of Heroes and the SLI Challenge :
Good News for Company of Heroes and SLI

I received an email from Tom's Hardware Guide UK & Ireland editor Aaron McKenna about the game title Company of Heroes by Relic Entertainment, which has just been released. After publishing his article about the game, there were some concerns raised to him from some readers in our forums. Apparently there is an issue with Nvidia based cards in SLI running the demo version of Company of Heroes. I told Aaron that I would check into it.
I first went to Nvidia's driver team to see if there were compatibility issues with the current ForceWare driver. Within a few hours we received some answers. Apparently there is a game side issue that does not allow the game to run properly in SLI. While there doesn't appear to be a fix for the demo, there is a day one patch that will allow the retail version of the game to run.
While this is annoying for gamers looking to run the demo before purchasing the game, this is not a long term problem. I hope that there will be a fix for the demo, so more people can enjoy it. It is clearly in Relic's best interest to have something that runs on all platforms. Not being able to run the demo on the systems where people spent upwards of £800 / €1,000 for their graphics subsystem is something that should be fixed asap. For the time being, you elitists with SLI have to disable SLI so you can run the demo.
