Lionsgate working on double-feature Blu-ray Discs
Los Angeles (CA) - In the first big move for high definition formats this year, Lionsgate Films has announced that it will start making Blu-ray Discs that contain two movies on a single disc.
Trade magazine Video Business reports that Lionsgate will release Ultimate Avengers and Ultimate Avengers 2 on one 50 GB BD on April 24. It will be the HD format premiere for both titles and will carry a suggested retail price of about $40.
In addition, there’s still room for bonus features, which Video Business says includes a trivia track and two special featurettes.
Lionsgate is the first studio to offer two full-length movies on a single Blu-ray Disc. It’s similar to when Universal first manufactured a double-sided HD DVD disc that contains the high-definition version of the movie on one side and a regular, standard definition DVD on the other side.
