LinuxStore.com ships $495 Linux-based PC
CPU Micromart Inc. will sell a fully-configured $495 Linux PC via its online e-commerce site.
The new system, named the "ion," is a 300MHz AMD K6-2-based computer, featuring a 4.3GB hard drive, 32MB of SDRAM, a 24X CD-ROM, internal V.90/K56 Flex Modem, sound, speakers, mini tower case, keyboard and mouse.
The ion also features KDE, the popular graphical user interface for X Windows, and Red Hat's Linux operating system, in addition to a range of pre-installed word processing, 3D modeling, animation, and communications software.
