Linux sees Latin American expansion
Projections by IDG say that 33 percent of all computers in Latin America will be running Linux by 2003. According to a writer for LinuxWorld, the open-source operating system is an attractive alternative to software priced at US levels, but the anti-piracy efforts of the Business Software Alliance and companies such as Microsoft Corp. may also be playing an important role in the expansion of Linux use.
