Linux on the PowerPC ships
LinuxPPC Inc. has updated its Linux OS bundle for PowerPC Macs.
The new bundle of software and tools, named LinuxPPC 1999, has an improved installer and user interface. The bundle includes software for networking, development and browsing, in the form of Netscape Communicator 4.6.
LinuxPPC 1999 costs $32 and is available on via the company's web site at http://www.linuxppc.com.
Based on the Linux 2.2 kernel, LinuxPPC 1999 ships with window managers such as Carsten Haitzler's Enlightenment and Afterstep, part of Tenon Intersystems' XTen application, and The Gnome Project's Gnome 1.0 desktop.
