Linux GNOME UI gains support
While the open-source community seems to agree on who its enemy is, it has yet to agree on a user interface to take on Windows. The same sort of fragmentation that plagued the Common Desktop Environment effort to create a Unix interface in the early 90s still exists in the form of two competing interfaces for Linux. GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) and KDE (K Desktop Environment) both have their proponents but it seems that powerful forces are going to try to establish GNOME as the one true path. They will announce the formation of the GNOME Foundation at LinuxWorld on Tuesday. According to a Bloomberg reporter, news of the foundation's imminent creation has resulted in a rise in Linux stock prices.
