Linux Gains by Nipping at Goliath's Heels
A recent survey conducted by IDC Continuum indicates that while Windows still rules in Asia's desktop and mobile market, Linux is gaining on Microsoft in the server market. At least 6% of servers and high end computers in the enterprise market now use the Linux open-source operating system. The poll also indicated that use of Linux in the server market is expected to grow nearly 25% in 2003. The Windows O/S presence in the server environment, on the other hand, is expected to increase by 6% and Unix O/S usage is predicted to grow by 9%.
