LG's hybrid player now available in U.S. stores
LG’s dual format Blu-ray and HD-DVD player is now available in the United States. The LG Super Multi Blue Player (model LG BH100) was first shown off at last month’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas and is a welcome sight to some consumers who want a simple solution to the dueling high-def formats.

Regular Blu-ray and HD-DVD movies are played back at either 24 or 30 frames/sec in 1080p mode. The player’s menu options can be overlaid on Blu-ray video which provides consumers an uninterrupted view of their movies. LG’s player is also backwards compatible to play standard definition DVDs. Those discs are upconverted to 1080i resolution.
Online and large "brick and mortar" retail stores like Best Buy and Circuit City are selling the player for around $1200.
