LCD manufacturers take different paths: Japan moves into OLED and niche products while South Korea focuses on large-size display panels
Further segmentation has arrived in the LCD manufacturing business, with Japanese makers shifting into high value-added products such as small panels for mobile phones and OLED (organic light-emitting diode) prototypes, while their South Korean counterparts concentrate on large flat panels used for desktop and notebook PCs.
