LCD component shortages may rise in H2 2006

Although LCD component suppliers are in the midst of expanding their capacity, shortages in large-size glass substrates, TAC films and notebook-use CCFLs (cold cathode fluorescent lamps) are likely to occur in the second half, DisplaySearch predicts. According to DisplaySearch, leading substrate supplier Corning will build 12 new furnaces in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan this year, though sources at the glass maker stated that total is not correct.
