With summer gone, it is a good time to get back to the grass roots of LAN gaming. Earlier this month, we ushered in the fall season earlier this month in Louisville, Kentucky for LANWAR 20.

LANWAR 20 was more subdued than previous LANWAR events. Why this was the case we are not sure. Maybe gamers were exhausted from great LAN events held last summer. Never-the-less, LANWAR 20 had a heavy-gaming emphasis, involving long marathon gaming sessions.

And what is a LAN party without sponsors and fun beyond the gaming? AMD, TeamAMD, Asus, BFG, and NVIDIA were all on hand to provide healthy doses of fun as well as prizes for the more than 500 gamers in attendance.

Prizes rain down and the sponsors throw down a ton of prizes for the attendees of LW20. Of course prizes were distributed in a variety of other ways as well to try to balance the types of give aways at the event. This is a tradition at LW at just will never die.

For AMD, this was a very special event, since for the first time they were handing out some of their 64 bit thunder in the form of Athlon 64 processors to lucky gamers. These are quite a valuable prize to receive as the Athlon 64 processor costs nearly as much as some of the gamers complete computer system! Phil Stein from AMD wanted to make sure that AMD's message concerning the Athlon FX51 as an enthusiasts' dream was broadcast loud and clear to the masses at LANWAR 20. Phil worked closely with launch partner ASUS in a random drawing where one lucky LANWAR 20 attendee received an Athlon FX51 and Asus SK8N motherboard. Phil also gave away another Athlon 64 and a Gigabyte motherboard to some lucky gamers. AMD continues to show its commitment to the gaming community by making sure that gamers and attendees have the opportunity to see and possibly take home the hottest products immediately after their splashy launch.
