Kofax's color-image processing technology has been selected by Fujitsu for its new fi-4990C high-speed color scanner. The Fujitsu fi-4990C scanner offers high-speed color, grayscale, and monochrome scan rates of up to 90 pages-per-minute (ppm) or 180 images-per-minute (ipm) at 200 dpi. The Kofax controller includes a Wide Ultra SCSI interface and hardware JPEG compression and image processing. The fi-4990C also includes Kofax's VRS image-processing technology, which automatically straightens, crops and optimizes exposure in real-time, using grayscale or color data, then thresholds the image to black-and-white, eliminating trial-and-error scanner adjustments.
