Knight Rider car for sale

Chicago (IL) - A Dublin, Calif., based dealership is offering on of the four original 1982 Pontiac Trans Am cars that were used for close-up shots in the classic 1980s TV show "Knight Rider".

Knight Rider was released in September 1982 and was shown in four seasons with a total of 90 episodes. The iconic talking car K.I.T.T. - short for "Knight Industries Two Thousand" - is offered for $149,995 at Kassabian Motors. While it is not able to jump, "turbo boost" to 300 mph and eject passengers on the push of a button, the car is described to be fully intact and feature, probably most importantly the humming, red scanner light in the front part of the hood.

The inside reportedly features the cockpit-like steering wheel, two in-dash video screens as well as red, green and yellow buttons the resemble the idea of what future computers were thought to look like in the early 80s.

The car itself is based on the 1982 model of the Pontiac Trans Am, which is not as powerful as it sounds and certainly won’t accelerate the car to half the claimed top speed of K.I.T.T. The car has a 305 Chevrolet V8 engine under the hood, which produces 165 hp in combination with the automatic transmission.
