Judge considers injunction against Napster
The Recording Industry Association of America has asked a judge to issue a preliminary injunction that would force music-swapping firm Napster to remove all major-label content from its service.
The trade association, along with several record labels that include Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group and Sony Music, is suing Napster for allegedly contributing to massive copyright infringement as a result of its members trading songs through the service. If granted, the injunction would last only until the case came to a full trial.
