Java needs Linux to survive?

A writer for LinuxWorld says that Sun is crippling its own open-source Java by refusing to give up Solaris in favor of the open-source Linux. The solution to Sun Microsystem's problems with Java and otherwise, according to the writer, is to publicly harmonize Linux threading with Java threads. Both Java and Linux would gain credibility and appeal if they were completely compatible.
