CBS offers NCAA basketball season for download on iTunes
CBS and Apple today announced that the 2006 NCAA Division I Basketball Championship will be available for download. The new deal does not only expand the video offering on iTunes, but also is yet another sign that Apple’s download service grows into an increasingly important content distribution channel for traditional TV networks.
"Condensed" versions of the games are available one-by-one for $2 one day after a game was played. There’s also a season pass that will allow iPod users access to "condensed" versions of all 63 games of the NCAA season. The season pass does not include semifinals and championship game, as well as "compilations of buzzer beaters, upsets and memorable championship games from past NCAA Tournaments." Apple did not releasing pricing information for these additional content items.
Inm unrelated news, Handheld Entertainment announced that it has licensed more than 1500 films and television programs from Worldvision Cinema for its Zvue handheld devices.
