Apple Updates iTunes For Windows XP, But Not Vista
The compatibility issues between Apple’s iPod companion iTunes and Microsoft’s latest operating system continue as Apple has updated iTunes in preparation for the release of Apple TV. The new update is available to Mac and Windows XP (and 2000) users, but no release has been forthcoming for Windows Vista users.
What this means is that if you have Windows Vista then you can’t have iTunes, and if you can’t have iTunes then you can’t really have an iPod or Apple TV... Not without great difficulty, at any rate.
Another new feature Windows Vista won’t be able to peruse is the Cover Flow feature, which allows one to view an album collection in a jukebox style cover-flip. Quite a Vista-esque feature, ironically.
Apple says they’re getting closer to Vista compatibility, but there are still some errors persisting. Some are graphical in nature, but critically the bug which sees Windows Vista corrupting iPod’s has yet to be properly fixed.
