Is there a Granite Bay bug?
I was remiss in not covering a story sent by a reader that eventually got picked up by The Inquirer here , fortunately. This time, I'll put this out there and see what the response is.
A THG reader, Angelo Bovis, has researched an incompatibility in Granite Bay chipsets with AGP 8X graphics cards. As Angleo points out:
Here is what seems to be errata notes from Intel, stating that AGP 8X does not work well on the new chipsets:

Throughout several forums on the web, users are complaining about system lockups concerning the 9700 PRO and the new chipsets from Intel. I myself just invested $2000 US in a gaming rig, spent many hours trying to figure out the problem, to no avail; it looks like the users are up a creek...
Here are some forums that portray what the users have tried:

I sincerely hope you take this into serious consideration. I have done this research on my own; I am not in any way biased or against any company. I have been working with computers/electronics for years, and find this to be a debacle. Perhaps with a posting of an article, we can warn the public and help them avoid throwing away their money.
Best Regards,
