Is SDMI falling apart?

A writer for the IDG News Service says the Secure Digital Music Initiative (SDMI) is disintegrating. Thus far, various observers say, the effort to develop a method of giving publishers control of digital content has been marred by internal discord between computer makers, consumer electronics firms and music companies. The recent resignation of project leader Leonardo Chiariglione may represent the inability of the organization's powerful members to cooperate, but it is at least a serious blow to the project.
