Wave Hello to the iRiver Phone
It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything big from ReignCom, the company responsible for the iriver line of MP3 players but it seems like we’ll be seeing a new product from the company early next year.
Last year the iriver device was spotted at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas. Although, just because you see something at CES, it doesn’t mean you’re going to see it anytime soon. At the time, iriver said the handset was just a concept and we’d heard nothing of the iriver phone since.
However, today reports have emerged saying the handset is going to hit the Korean market on March 9 with local carrier KT, and if that’s the case, we’re more than likely going to see this wave as more than “just a concept” at CES 2009 in January.
Details about the phone are pretty skimpy, but according to SlashGear the handset (which is rumored to be called the Wave) is based around a 3-inch, 480 x 272 touchscreen and has the usual mixture of high-speed cellular internet access and WiFi, together with PMP and FM radio. Internal storage is 4GB, expandable with miniSD, and the handset comes preloaded with access to the Bugs Music Service for on-device media downloads.
No news on when we’ll see the device stateside or even what carrier it will be available on.
