Apple iPod drives up prices of other MP3 players
In addition to having to contend with competition in the market from the iPod nano, the strong sourcing presence of Apple in the NAND flash market is driving Taiwan-based MP3 player makers to propose a price increase for their respective 1 GByte version models upon limited flash memory supply in the market.
Acer and Micro-Star International (MSI) are two MP3 player makers who have proposed a price adjustment, with the price of their 1GB version models set to rise 8-10% to NT$3990-,290, up from NT$3799-3990, according to industry sources.
