Apple quarter result: Expects iPhone sales to reach 1 million within 3 months
Cupertino (CA) – Apple today announced another record quarter(fiscal Q3, calendar Q2) for the company, with revenues having increased 24% and net profits by 73% over the year-ago quarter.
Sales came in at $5.41 billion, which were sequentially up from $5.3 billion in the preceding fiscal Q2. Net profits looked especially strong at $818 million, higher than the $770 million in FQ2 and down from the $1.0 billion reported for FQ1, which however saw Christmas revenues of $7.1 billion.

iPod sales came in at 9.815 million, down from 10.5 million in Q2 and 21.1 million in Q1 – but up 21% over the year-ago quarter. Mac computer sales were reported to have reached 1.8 million units, up 33% year-over-year.
Not much detail was provided about the iPhone. However, Apple said that it will reach its shipment goal of 1 million units by the end of its first full quarter of sales. In the remaining three quarters of the year, Apple plans to ship at least 9 million phones.
