High-margin IPC business attracts motherboard specialists
Motherboard maker Micro-Star International (MSI) said it will kick off shipments of industrial PCs (IPCs) at the end of this year, following Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS), which has begun IPC shipments to system integrators, according to the companies. The IPC segment, which contributes an average gross margin of almost 30%, has attracted the attention of Taiwan-based motherboard makers, who suffered margin declines in the first quarter.
