Iomega's Predator USB 2.0 CD-RW Drive

CD-RW drives don't seem like they're going to go away any time soon, since both the drives and the media are still inexpensive compared to other means of archiving and backup. They're also getting faster, which should do even more to keep them in the mix. Iomega's external Predator 24x10x40 USB 2.0 CD-RW drive takes advantage of USB 2.0's interface, which is 40 times faster than USB 1.1. The company says that burning a 60-minute CD-R with the new Predator drive takes less than four minutes. The new Predator USB 2.0 drive is backwards compatible with USB 1.1, so you can use it now keep it around if you upgrade to a machine with the newer standard, or use it if you have different machines that have different USB versions. The drive also has built-in buffer under-run protection, which Philippe explains in his review of 24x burners . The new Iomega Predator 24x10x40 USB 2.0 CD-RW drive is available now and is priced at $229.95 U.S.
