Iomega Corp. has entered the optical storage market with its first CD-rewritable ZipCD drive.
The ZipCD is an internal EIDE 4x4x24 drive that can create up to 650MB of data on a common CD format. It will come bundled with an array of software tools and accessories when it begins shipping in the second half of 1999. No price has been announced yet.
In addition, Iomega plans to sell CD-RW and CD-R discs. Starting in July, packs of three CD-RW discs will sell for $12.99 to $19.99, depending on the number of formatted disks. Iomega will start offering ZipCD CD-R discs in the second half of this year.
Details about Iomega products can be found at either the company website, www.iomega.com , or its online store, www.iomegadirect.com .
