Intersil grabbing 11g / USB 2.0 biz?
Although Intersil is spinning off its WLAN business to Globespanvirata [previous story ], it appears that Intersil’s PRISM line is still alive and trying to take 802.11g market share.
Of the four 802.11g / USB 2.0 adapters currently or soon-to-be available, D-Link’s DWL-G120 , NETGEAR’s WG121 and Linksys’ WUSB54G use Intersil’s PRISM GT chipset. The D-Link and Linksys products have the radio and USB interface on a single board.
So far, only Buffalo Tech’s WLI-USB-G54 uses Broadcom’s AirForce technology, in the form of a Broadcom mini-PCI module married to a USB adapter board.
