Another internet entrepreneur talks to Toms Hardware about how she plans to make herself a fortune

by - source: Tom's Hardware UK

The internet is overloaded with the success stories of young entrepreneurs. Mark Zuckerberg and his social networking bomb, Facebook, exploded onto the scene not too long ago and the site has earned the twenty-something, college drop-out millions.

Seventeen year old Ashley Qualls started her own website when she was fourteen and is currently living in a $250,000 house she paid for herself.

With stories like these it’s not surprising to see other young people trying to get in on the internet cash cow.

Gina West is a little bit older than the more famous internet entrepreneurs you hear about. At 25 she hopes to make enough money to do sensible things like buy her own house.

Only problem is, is her idea good enough ? West claims her idea is unique and exciting. Adsquare.tv is a virtual town that users navigate clicking on ads as they go.

In a sort of Times Squareish set up, Adsqaure is basically a screen full of ads (click here to see the site for yourself), or it will be, once it really starts to kick off.

To attract regular Internet users to browse AdSquare there are many features added to make it as interactive and interesting as possible. There is a community forum where people can meet/chat. A share section where people can post photos/videos etc that other users can view and download. In the AdSquare blog section visitors can read and comment about news and progress of the site. As an addition to the site there is the ’Bloggers Wall Of Fame’, where people can send in a photo to display on the wall and link to their own blog, MySpace, Facebook etc.

Gina West spoke to Toms Hardware about her ideas,

“The main idea behind the site is to sell all the window adverts on the buildings displayed in AdSquare and link to the buyers own website. Companies can choose from a number of windows and place advertising logos on their purchased space. The goal is to create a fun, unique place to advertise for great value. I’d like the site to be successful and showcase my hard work and dedication.”

When we asked her what the difference between her website and the next was, Gina was confident that the design and layout of Adsquare would be enough to get her by.

“The site is more attractive for users because the layout and concept is new, fun and exciting. Businesses who purchase adverts get a lot of exposure (an advert on Adsquare, 2 Adsquare ad lists) at a great intro price. There is a lot of potential for AdSquare to continue to be developed with more features to keep generating traffic and interest to the site.”

On the whole we’re on the fence about this idea. It could be great because it’s a good idea but on the other hand, there have been good ideas that have never gotten off the ground for no good reason. The internet is both one of the toughest and easiest markets to break into. On one side you’ve got to try and give users what they need or want but on the other you have to try and create something new that has never been done before. Time will tell whether Adsqaure has what it takes to become the next big thing. Watch this space.

So, people are expected to visit a website to... view adverts??? I think most people have quite enough advertising shoved down their necks without going to a website whose sole purpose is to display ad's!!!

Silly idea. People will come to your site to view a load of badly drawn ads on a badly drawn picture. Hope your not investing too much in this pap

I think its a great idea, it's a unique concept with a lot of benefits for advertisers with various ways their adverts get seen. You probably need to take a bit more time to look around the site long enough to see all the features and what the site is really about before making false comments. Its good to have an opinion but you should really be a bit more constructive with your criticisms rather than just flying insults based on looking at the site for 5 secs.
