Toys Ain't What They Used To Be
The International Toy Show coincided with the fourth worst blizzard on record for New York. The storm served as a metaphor for the barrage of electronic games and gizmos that with each year have taken more booth space away from the doll collections and other traditional, non-techy toys.
A blizzard coming up from the south with the full fury of a Nor'Easter belted the gritty streets of New York with almost two feet of pristine white snow on the show's second day. Meanwhile, many more electronic toys and gadgets pervaded the booth space at the New York Javits Center than in years past. Yes, there were thousands of dolls, doll accessories, and doll collectors - both male and female - but there were also more cool electronics and pretty girls than you could shake a stick at.

Taking a cab to go just a few blocks from the Javits center on the second day of the Toy Show was an ordeal.

There was fun to be had on Razor's new electric scooter, which offered a convenient way to cruise the Toy Show's booths at speeds of up to 10 mph, though it was not much good on the snow outside.
