Intel's 2.2 GHz Pentium 4
You know the competition between Intel and rival AMD must be heating up when they both release their latest and greatest processor on the same day. Intel's latest warrior in the processor arena takes the form of its new 2.2 GHz P4 (Northwood), which is manufactured using the 0.13-micron fabrication process and has a 512 kB L2 cache. It will be priced at $562 in 1,000-unit quantities. A new version of the 2.0 GHz P4, called the 2.0 "A" GHz with 512 kB L2 cache is also being manufactured using the 0.13-micron process and is priced at $364. Intel also let us know that its 845 chipset now officially supports DDR memory in addition to SDRAM as well as telling us about two new 845-based motherboards (D850MVSE and D845BGSE) that support up to five USB 2.0 ports.
