Despite Microsoft's assurances that Windows 2000 will perform well on a wide variety of computing platforms, Intel officials insist the new operating system will require beefier processors.
Speaking to developers gathered in Palm Springs, Calif., Intel vice president Pat Gelsinger said Windows 2000 requires up to 250MHz more CPU power than Windows 98 or Windows NT.
