Intel urges US Supreme Court to consider NTP versus RIM case

Intel urged the United States Supreme Court to hear Research in Motion’s (RIM) appeal. RIM has been locked in a multi-year legal battle with NTP, a Virginia-based intellectual property holding firm. RIM is appealing because they think some of the patent liability may not pertain to international activities.
The court will discuss the case on January 20th, but that does not necessarily mean that the justices will agree to a full hearing. Historically, most petitions for hearings are refused.
