Intel Corp.'s Microprocessor Research Labs (MRL) has announced it will use the Chinese Academy of Science to help optimize compilers for the company's long-delayed IA-64 Itanium and McKinley processors. The Itanium is scheduled for production by the end of Q2. Fine-tuning the compilers that translate operating system source code will improve chip performance.
