Intel slashes chip prices
Chip prices on Intel's Web site reflect reductions of as much as one third. This decision to cut prices was made, apparently, before the most recent chip recall. Competition from Advanced Micro Devices has increased as Intel has struggled to meet customer demand for high-performance chips while AMD has successfully produced faster high-end chips while lowering prices on Athlon and Duron processors.
