Intel shows Linux-based Web Appliance
Intel has announced its Dot.Station "Web appliance" that will provide a phone, Internet access, email, calender, phone book and other services in a box designed to sit on a counter. The device sports a high-resolution monitor, a separate silver keyboard and a Linux OS that Intel chose, according to the company, at the request of the ISPs who will buy the machine. Intel, according to one writer, expects the appliance to be given at no cost to Internet service providers' customers.
