It's taken 25 years to get to this point, but Intel has just announced the shipment of its one billionth chip, marking a significantly milestone in the company's history. This is an amazing amount of CPUs and, what's even more impressive is that "Mercury Research calculates that the next billion X86 CPUs could come as early as 2007."
