Intel rolls out cheaper Pentium M chips
Santa Clara (CA) - Intel extended its Pentium M product line on the low end with the addition of the models 715 and 725.
The two new family members operate at 1.5 GHz (715) and 1.6 GHz (725) and offer the same technology characteristics as existing Pentium Ms, which formerly were known under the code name Dothan.
Built on Intel’s 90 nm manufacturing process, the processors support the 855 chip set series, come with 2 MByte L2 Cache, 400 MHz FSB, and post a Thermal Design Power of 21 W, core voltages range from 1.25 to 1.4 V. The 715 and 725 join the models 735, 745 and 755 (1.7GHz, 1.8GHz and 2GHz) which were introduced on May 10 of this year.
Pricing for the 715 and 725 is set at $209 and $241 per 1,000-unit shipments, respectively.
