Intel’s first quad-core desktop processor, the Core 2 Extreme QX6700, which is scheduled to be released next month, will sell for US$999 in 1000-unit quantities, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers who are familiar with Intel’s latest roadmap. The Core 2 Quad Q6600 processor will be available in January 2007 at $851, the sources added.
