Intel today announced revenues of $10.2 billion and net earnings of earnings of 2.5 billion for the fourth quarter of 2005. Revenues are up 6.3% and profits gained 15.5% over Q4 of 2004. For the year, Intel’s sales reached $38.8 billion (+13.5%), earnings came in slightly below $9.6 billion (+15.3%).
Intel’s quarter result missed Wall Street expectations, despite substantial gains in revenues and profit. According to an initial statement, Intel achieved record shipments of processors across desktop, mobile and server segments. Application processor shipments for PDAs and cellphones declined.
The Mobility Group continues to be Intel’s the fastest growing segment. Revenues for the quarter were $2.4 billion, up 40% from Q4 of 2004. Operating income of the group climbed 62.7% from $951 million to $1.55 billion in the same time frame and now accounts for $46.8% of Intel’s total revenues.
Although the company continues to face a shortage of chipsets until the third quarter of this year, it saw an all-time high of chipset shipments and an increase in motherboard shipments. The Flash memory Group reported climbing revenues on increasing shipments and higher average selling prices, but reported an operating loss of $12 million.
