Intel plans more cuts for Celeron D CPUs in October, to launch Core 2 Duo E4300 in Q1 2007
Aiming to counter pressure from the launch of Socket AM2 Sempron processors by rival Advanced Micron Devices (AMD), Intel plans to further cut the prices for the complete line up of its entry-level Celeron D processors in late October following a planned price reduction for the majority of the lineup on 23 July, according to sources at Taiwan motherboard makers.
By the end of this week, the unit prices for the majority of Celeron D-series processors (from 356-331) will be reduced by 8.5-16.9% to a range between $44-74, and on October 22 the complete lineup of Celeron D processors (from 360 -331) will be lowered by 8.5-14.5% to between US$39-74, the sources indicated.
