Intel prepares 750MHz, 800MHz PIIIs
Intel could be planning a holiday surprise: an announcement of new Pentium III chips running at 750MHz - and perhaps as high as 800MHz.
Intel is expected to reveal its fastest-yet Pentium IIIs on Monday, sources said.
The accelerated Pentium III rollout is seen as a nod to increasing pressure from AMD. While AMD is currently producing a 750MHz Athlon chip, Intel's line tops out at 733MHz.
