Intel opening up chipset licensing

According to Anthony Cataldo of the EETimes, Intel Corp. seems to liberalizing its licensing policy with regards to the Pentium 4 bus as part of a strategy to counter the growth of Advanced Micro Devices. Via Technologies Inc., Acer Laboratories Inc. and Micron Technology Inc. are talking with Intel and have given indications that licenses are pending to put Pentium 4 hooks on their northbridge chips. Graphics chipmaker Nvidia and others may also be given bus licenses.
