Intel to upset the balance in high-capacitance MLCC market?
Intel plans to change part of the high-capacitance multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for supporting its dual-core CPU from 0402 X5R 1 μF to 0402 X5R 2.2μF, and the move will affect supply of other MLCC series, making Japan-based MLCC providers hesitant to support the plan, according to sources in the channel. Intel has decided to make the change since tight supply for 0402 X5R 1μF MLCCs continues to persist, the sources indicated.
