Intel Leaves Rambus at the Altar
The lack of acceptance for Rambus RIMMs, which were originally supposed to be the only type of memory you could use with Intel's P4, seems to have gone further than anyone expected. Over at the Inquirer , Mike Magee has heard that even Intel is shying away from the volatile memory they were once so keen on. Quoting a story from EETimes.com , it seems that Intel's CEO Craig Barrett says the "consumer will decide" whether Rambus will survive in the Pentium 4 family. Ahh, but it was such a lovely courtship.
