Intel debuts 815EM mobile chipset
Intel Corp. has launched its 815EM chip set for notebooks and other mobile product. Based on the 815E chipset, it is designed for Pentium III and integrates graphics functionality with support for external AGP 4x or AGP 2x graphic controllers as well as Intel's power management system, SpeedStep. The chipset features integrated motion compensation for enhanced DVD quality and a video-out port for television or flat panel display. The 815EM utilizes the ICH2-M I/O controller hub with an additional USB port, a LAN connect interface, dual Ultra ATA/100 controllers for hard drive performance, and support for Dolby Digital full surround sound.
