Intel calls it a "production-test escape issue." The escapees consist of a very limited number of defective 810 chip sets.

The flawed 810 chip sets may not boot properly. Those that boot will not load the graphics drivers properly and will support only VGA mode, not SVGA.

Intel says it has corrected the current production run of 810 chip sets and notified its OEM customers of the flawed 810 chip sets. Intel is providing its customers with a test to screen their 810 chip sets for the problem.

Formerly code-named Whitney, the 810 reduces system cost by integrating graphics capabilities onto the chipset, along with software-based audio, modem and DVD capabilities.
